Day 2

Blue light tanning booth! Getting the tan even.

Hi everyone it is grandma again. I just got in from the hospital. Amber's surgery went great and she is back in her room recoverying. The doctors found what was causing all the trouble, part of the stuff that should have come out with the delivery stayed behind and was causing havoc. Amber should feel much better in the morning.

As for Josh, I told him he needed a shower, shave, and rest; trust me he needs all of it (LOL), but he has been great throughout all of this ordeal.

Now for the best news...Lucas is doing great today. He is much more active, pooped his drawers, and had no problem peeing all over daddy as daddy got to change his bed and touch him today. Since Amber was in recovery and Josh was with her I went up to see Lucas get his dinner. I also watched as he got really mad at the nurse fussing with his diaper and stuff (he doesn't fuss for mommy and daddy). He lost a little weight as expected and doesn't have as much fluid buildup. In fact, his diaper was really soaked. Well that's the news for today...bed for me...night all.

Rough day for Amber

Hi folks it is Grandma again. Amber will undergo surgery tonight due to some complications, please keep her and the family in your prayers.

My first Day in the NICU

My mommy and daddy are here!

Lucas asked grandma to keep everyone up to date since mommy and daddy are very busy with me and have no time to type. I am okay, a little tired from my big day, so are mommy and daddy. We are getting medicine for the infection and should start to feel better soon. The doctors gave me something like a food tonight and boy did that taste good. Tomorrow I may get mommy's milk, yummy!

I got a bath from mommy tonight while daddy watched and took pictures. My head is a little bruised and so is one of my eyes, but I sure look cute according to all the nurses. Mommy, daddy, and grandma said I look better than Tom Cruise (whoever that is). I think daddy made my first movie with me as the star. I am tired now so I am going to sleep a bit it's been a big day, so are mommy and daddy.

Just After Midnight

Lucas James and Daddy were rushed off to the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) for care and medicines. Daddy stay with Lucas while grandma stayed with Amber. The doctors worked to get them both stablized. Within minutes we learned Lucas was doing good and so was Amber.

Mother's Day

Well Mother's Day kicked off way different than expected. Amber was sick all night and in the morning when I went too work Mom took over taking care of Amber. By 10am Amber started feeling some very painful contractions and mom rushed her too the hospital. She was admitted immediately and the doctors began meds to stop the contractions; we would learn later that she and the baby were in trouble. For some unknown reason the uterus had contracted an infection and the baby needed to come out. Drs prepared for the birth and at 11:24 pm Lucas James Thomas 2.6 lbs made his debut into our lifes. Little but strong! The crazy kid had tied the umbilical cord around his neck and had grabbed the cord with his hand and everytime a contraction would occur he would squeeze the cord too, but our doctors were prepared for that too. He came out a little blue, but within seconds they had him pinked up. His head was pretty bruised up from the birth and you will see it in the pictures.
